J-Rock Fridays Vol. 25

July 23, 2010

Silver anniversary.

white white sisters- “imperfect conflict”

Finally a band that could combine the raw energy of Death From Above and the electronic prowess of Daft Punk.  Loud and beautiful.  Watch out Boom Boom Satellites.

Cold Kitchen- “Castle in the Air”

Just as powerful as the white white sisters, with an amazing synth line running throughout the track.

the telephones- “I Hate DISCOOOOOOO!!!”

One day the telephones will run of of word usages for “disco.”  Until then feel free to wear shiny shirts and neon face paint.

UNCHAIN- “Super Collider”

Nothing like watching schoolgirls punch each others lights out.  I’ve been listening to Hello, Young Souls!! a lot this week.

SUNSGRIND- “letter to betrayer”

“Is this the new Sunsgrind?  F no!”  I was actually digging that intro but I can dig melodogrindcore instead.  The singer reminded me of Love Me Butch in the last minute.

Mass of the Fermenting Dregs- “ゼロコンマ、色とりどりの世界”

Well that was a lot more colorful than I expected.  And I think some parts are even in 3D!  When did this band start writing happy music?  I like it.

Kaminarigumo- “Local Line”

Another happy pop tune produced by Yamanaka Sawao of the pillows

Sandy Beach Surf Coaster- “Private Beach”

Where else would the new Sandy Beach Surf Coaster PV take place but at a surf shop on a sandy beach?

Neo Slash- “My Last Word”

I would hate my last words to be “can you hear?” but she sounds like a lucky lady.

Golden Goose- “Proud To Be”

Always weird watching bands rock out on electric guitars in the middle of the desert.

LUCK-END- “Do the Hustle”

I would be laughing if I wasn’t dancing with them.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

80kidz, Jinn, Fox Loco Phantom, you tied for last week’s poll.  Fight amongst yourselves.

Which 3 will conquer this week?

  1. I bought the white white sisters mini album at japanfiles for $4.99. I cant say I was blown away by all the tracks, but hell it was only $4.99 and that is worth it just for Imperfect Conflict.

but with all techno given tracks, I need to give it a thorough listening to about 5 more times.

    • Wow, didn’t know they had it. They only email me about their stupid VK bands.

  2. [...] this is a major label debut we should be worried about.  When they released the video for the title track a couple of weeks ago it was clear that they changed their sound to something more bubbly.  I [...]
