The first nugget of music from the live action Beck film has been released. Snippets of “Evolution” can be heard in the original Beck movie trailers, but this is the first time we’ve heard Chiba’s vocals. The video gives us a first look at Beck’s lives as well as new movie clips. “Evolution” does not appear in the original BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad anime and it hasn’t been announced if any of the anime songs will be carried over. A listing for the soundtrack has popped up on CD Japan and Play-Asia; however, it does not include “Evolution” or any of the band songs. Beck opens in Japan this weekend.

The second trailer for the live action adaption of the manga BECK has been released. From the looks of it, the movie will cover from the first chapter up to the Grateful Sound story arc, which is kind of a lot of material. The actors look like their characters for the most part. Chiba has an afro so I’m happy. The movie looks pretty amazing so far. Still, I would’ve liked to hear some of the original music from the film in this trailer and not the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
BECK opens September 4 in Japan. You can find more information on the official website.

now if you’ve seen the banner for this site, you’d probably recognize that I’m a big fan of BECK: Mongolian Chop. Now I have good news for you my Canadian brothers, BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad will premiere on MuchMusic Friday, March 9 at 8pm EST/5pm PST! I’m so jealous. So far there has been no announcement for an air date in America or even a set dvd release date. Hopefully MTV or MTV 2 can snatch this title up in the states. BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad is the story of an indie rock band in Japan trying to get their name out to the world.
