J-Rock Fridays Vol. 13
February 5, 2010Welcome to J-Rock Fridays the 13th. Unfortunately, it didn’t land on Friday the 13th, but at least I didn’t feel compelled to compile another “scary videos” column. A little less videos this week. Get used to it.
Turntable Films- “2steps”
This song is so bright and happy. There’s nothing else I can say. If you like a little folk in your indie-pop this is your new favorite song of the year.
The Brixton Academy- “So Shy”
Part of the crowd. I’m staring at the girl. You are the best dancer in this club. I just want to know your name. I just want to know who you are. You are the best dancer in this club.
REAL’- “Usotsuki”
I’m not into the whole rap/rock thing anymore, but this is a pretty funny vid. I hate how those 3-year-olds have better cellphones than I do.
Stance Punks- “ザ・ワールド・イズ・マイン”
Hahahahahahahaha, what the hell? This guy runs around downtown having a mental breakdown and no one stops to help him? I guess that’s another thing America and Japan have in common.
OVERHEADKiNG- “Let’s Get Started”
These guys have somewhat of a Linkin Park vibe going on. They’re signed to the always reliable Caffeine Bomb Records.
Droog- “人類”
Amazing.
Supe- “Where I Stand”
Second J-Rock Fridays appearance from Supe. This is a perfect alt rock song. This deserves to be sandwiched between Disturbed and Trapt on Q101. Well, not sandwiched between shit, but those are the only alternative bands I can think of on the radio right now.
Oh look it’s Peelander-Z and they want to party!
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Last week’s poll was a tie between andymori and UNCHAIN with STRAIGHTENER a point behind. I had less videos this week but I’ll stick with the top 3 again…
