On September 19th, BACK-ON will release two singles, Flower and Butterfly. Flower is their 2nd end theme used for the anime Eyeshield 21 and has a r&b flavor with a pretty sweet violin in the background. Butterfly goes back to their more expected rap/rock sound with some dance elements to it. This single is the end theme for the TV drama Shinjuku Swan. Why couldn’t they save us money and release it on the same cd like they’ve done before? Who knows.

The Captains : Resurrecting the “Group Sounds”
“Group Sounds”, a rock genre based on the music of such legends as the Beatles and The Who, ruled the Japanese music scene throughout the 1960’s. Bands such as The Spiders and The Carnabeats infused the genre with matching outfits and melodies that were distinctly Japanese. Young people of the time danced, got too excited and fainted.
And now!
A band has finally formed to resurrect the Group Sound!
A band called…THE CAPTAINS.

Gackt: The Greatest Filmography 1999-2006
August 13, 2007VIZ Pictures plans to put out 2 DVD collections compiling Gackt’s music video filmography. Normally I refuse to post about visual-kei music but if it wasn’t for this man’s ridiculous videos I doubt I would be as big on Japanese music as I am today. The Blue collection looks to be the harder rock type songs wile the Red collection, ballads. Check out “Mizerable”
