Noughts and Exes- Act One, Scene One

April 27, 2008

Is it too soon to say album of the year? I received my copy of noughts and exes’ Act One, Scene One yesterday and am just as floored as when I heard Joshua Wong’s first project, Whence He Came.  The music is a little more subdued than WHC with a mellow soft rock flavor.  My favorite tracks are “Breathe,” “Anything in You,” and “Flight Over Falling” among many others.  The album can be streamed on Virb and ordered at CDBaby.com.

Beat Crusaders- fansite and new album!

April 26, 2008

As many of you do not know, I am, in fact, in an intro web design class. I was instructed to make a personal site of anything I wanted and I chose the Beat Crusaders! You can check that out right here http://beatcrusaders.bravehost.com/. I used a Box.net widget on my site similar to the one I have on this blog. The instructor liked it. Anyway, seeing as I don’t have Dreamweaver on my computer I probably won’t be able to update it over the summer. As you will see on my homepage, Beat Crusaders will have a new album out on June 4th named popdod. It will ship in 3 versions in honor of the band’s 10th year anniversary.  Here is the tracklisting according to their website:

1. TIME FLIES, EVERYTHING GOES
2. LEMON HEAD
3. BECAUSE
4. SHOOTING STAR
5. GARDEN IN THE SHELL
6. WORK IT OUT
7. CHINESE JET SET
8. OLGADIES
9. LET’S GET BACK
10. SOLDIERS IN MY SOUL
11. SHOOT THE SKY
12. WINTERLONG
13. SUMMEREND
14. JIVE

Electrico-Everybody’s Here

April 25, 2008

Make sure you download  “Everybody’s Here,” the new track by Electrico. “A song written for youths or anybody who feels lost, desolated, low in self-esteem, in despair, all the negative things we face. It’s a song about hope and opening up to people who can help. You are not alone!!”

Thursday to release split album with Envy

April 2, 2008

Epic news of the day. The guys from Thursday and Envy have announced an upcoming split LP+CD. Temporary Residence Ltd., US record label of Envy, will distribute. They plan a small scale run, mostly at independent record stores and online. These are two of my favorite hardcore bands of all time. I would love to see more cross-continent split albums like this in the future. Temporary Residence Ltd. will also release Envy’s first DVD Transfovista next Tuesday, April 8th.

Go to DMC!

April 2, 2008

I would just like to point out that my blog has been linked to a Nick Carter fansite. How hardcore is that? This past weekend I became addicted to the manga Detroit Metal City. Much like the [adult swim] hit Metalocoplyse, DMC is a parody on the death metal scene. Our hero Negishi/Krauser the 2nd is a Swedish-pop loving fool by day and a heavy metal god by night. Negishi hates metal but still churns out the best songs on rape and murder in the country. His biggest fear is that his mom finds out what kind of band he’s in. You can read the scans here or download them from these guys. Last Friday a tribute album for the series including songs by Beat Crusaders, Wagdug Futuristic Unity, and Tommy february6 came out. I’m desperately searching for it. Please send.
