J-Rock Fridays Vol. 105
August 2, 2013Incoherent mess.
Maximum the Hormone- “Yoshu Fukushu”
It’s been six years since Maximum the Hormone’s last album, but the band is back with their usual brand of sonic metal fury sandwiched between J-pop verses. “Yoshu Fukushu” features some manga panels and sound effects, sneak peak at the 156 page manga that comes with the CD?
the HIATUS- “Horse Riding”
Watch Takeshi Hosomi’s silhouette play guitar as random scenery and newsreels pass in the background. A rather bland single but at least the HIATUS are past their emo phase.
BIGMAMA- “Alongside”
Set sail with BIGMAMA or just watch them rock out on the pier. The skies are grey, but the violin, which remains the band’s saving grace, will keep you cozy.
HEY-SMITH- “Dancing is Illegal”
Did you know dancing is illegal in Japan? You probably did if you watched Crossfaith’s video last week (to be fair, HEY-SMITH’s song was technically released a few months ago). This new PV is fairly well made and colorful for a lyric video.
POINT-UP- “Share Our Lives”
What is so important about Paragon Street that this punk rock band named their album after it? I can’t find any information about it, but they did actually film the real street in the UK for this video. Maybe we can have drinks there sometime?
HOTSQUALL- “Place in the Sun”
Diners are a great place to eat if you have money. HOTSQUALL is running short, but maybe a gunpoint robbery will help them out?
The SALOVERS- “Hot! Hot! Hot!”
Summertime beach fun with The SALOVERS. It may be hot! hot! hot! but you can always cool off in the water or an air conditioned building and film a live DVD.
kindan no tasuketsu- “Sun Comes Up”
Travel back to 2012 with a new kindan no tasuketsu video taken from their debut album (the one that wasn’t self-released). “Sun Comes Up” features stop motion trickery as the band sleep walks and play dough creatures and furries dance with them.
Note: Kindan is obviously a full band. You can tell this by glancing at their bio or watching the damn video. I don’t know who started calling this band a “her” but it needs to stop!
