August 22, 2007

Another Capsule related post, Ami Suzuki’s new single Free Free/Super Music Maker came out in Japan today.  The single was produced by Capsule member Nakata Yasutaka.  Free Free is an amazingly happy song and is great to drive to.  Not to mention, Ami is hot as hell in this video.

OK enough with the Jpop more rock music next time…

The Captains- US release and Tour

August 14, 2007

Tokyo no Records will release a 10 track “Best of” album from The Captains entitled Last Group Sounds on September 18th. For a full press release and tour dates click here.

The Captains : Resurrecting the “Group Sounds”

“Group Sounds”, a rock genre based on the music of such legends as the Beatles and The Who, ruled the Japanese music scene throughout the 1960’s. Bands such as The Spiders and The Carnabeats infused the genre with matching outfits and melodies that were distinctly Japanese. Young people of the time danced, got too excited and fainted.

And now!
A band has finally formed to resurrect the Group Sound!
A band called…THE CAPTAINS.

Gackt: The Greatest Filmography 1999-2006

August 13, 2007

VIZ Pictures plans to put out 2 DVD collections compiling Gackt’s music video filmography. Normally I refuse to post about visual-kei music but if it wasn’t for this man’s ridiculous videos I doubt I would be as big on Japanese music as I am today. The Blue collection looks to be the harder rock type songs wile the Red collection, ballads. Check out “Mizerable”

Update: Music profiles

August 13, 2007

It’s been awhile since I’ve updated the Music Profiles page so today I went in and added 14 new links. New links are denoted by the word *new* to the right of each band. Next on the list is updating the blogroll with new links as well as adding new songs to our Box player.  Some feedback would be greatly appreciated!

August 9, 2007

Doping Panda’s second video offering of the summer from their single Crazy released August 1st.  Crazy comes complete with ugly Micheal Jackson jackets and filmed in a house of mirrors.  Video quality- terrible but you gotta love that tiger skin rug.
