J-Rock Fridays Vol. 20

Shugo Tokumaru- “Rum Hee”

I’ve been listening to Shugo a lot lately, mainly his new album Port Entropy.  “Rum Hee” is from that album and last year’s EP.  Probably one of his more mainstream songs, but I love the birdcalls in the background.

The Bohemians- “Oh! Susanna”

Their debut album is called I Was Japanese Kinks and that’s probably a good explanation of their music.  Catchy old school flavor.

golf- “Silvers”

So there’s this guy named SLEEPERS and he makes awesome music videos.  And golf brings a good disco time as well.

FAT PROP- “Close My Eyes”

The vocalist reminds me of ELLEGARDEN.  At least he has mad piano skills.

HALFBY- “Mad Surfin'”

The Japanese Fatboy Slim?  Hate it!  Hate it?

HOTSQUALL- “Darlin’ Darlin'”

Yay for random old white people.  It reminds me of the Bobby Vinton concert I took my mom to the other day.

SKALAPPER- “New World”

Some band names say it all.  Who else loves horns in their music?

Nabowa- “Welcome to the Kitchen feat. ACO

Nabowa is back with one of the dudes from SOIL & PIMP and J-Popper ACO.  This is a nice, chill song and the vocals blend in nicely.

Psycho Food Eaters- “This New Friends”

I like your cardboard instruments, friends.

Aural Vampire- something something -cannibal coast-

I thought I might as well give them a listen if I’m going to see them at Anime Central tomorrow.  A lot of wtf in this video, but it has a nice beat.

And now for the least successful part of this column, the poll!  Pick 2.
