J-Rock Fridays Vol. 51
August 5, 2011Not going to Lollapalooza this weekend edition.
Miila and the Geeks- “Superhero”
Miila and the Geeks filmed an impromptu video while in Austin for SXSW this year. Looks like they didn’t bother to edit the video or inform their neighbor but screaming sax saves the day again. “Superhero” was originally released on their sold out 6 Songs EP last year, but you can catch it again on their debut album New Age later this month.
AA=AiD- “We’re Not Alone”
AA= put together quite the ensemble. Hayashi from Polysics, Akihiro Namba, Shinichi Ubukata from Ellegarden/Nothing’s Carved In Stone among others. This track was originally released back in June (never got around to posting the article, sorry) but it’s nice to see who singing what in the video. Download the track and check out some donation links for the disaster aid here.
androp- “Bright Siren”
Androp creates quite a light show with 250 cameras hooked up for strobo effect.
TearSmilo- シンカロン
A pretty girl jumps and brings color to your black and white world.
andymori- “Sunrise&Sunset”
Hitch a ride on the hippie van and rejoice this isn’t a Fiddler on the Roof cover.
Miranosand- “Poker Face”
Yes, this is a Lady Gaga cover set to Nirvana’s “Come As You Are.” Good times.
LOSTAGE- “Neverland”
LOSTAGE hang in their van, play some songs, look at some deer. Just your average day on the road.
nano.RIPE- 面影ワープ Face Warp
The train tracks aren’t the best place to set up your equipment, but if that’s what it takes to get your song in the latest moe anime…
Hideyoshi- 花かざぐるま
Flowers will fall for you.
Himawari Batake- ひまわり畑
You would think Himawari Batake would like to film their self-titled song in a sunflower field. But don’t worry there’s a brief sunflower cameo. Homemade videos are great.
Triune Gods- “Same Train”
A great song about trains from the international trio featuring Sibitt from Japan. Naturally there’s a lot of trains in this video. I could watch trains all day.
GOOD ON THE REEL- 二月のセプテンバー In February, September
Chill out with Good On The Reel by the waves. It doesn’t look like there’s any fish in this water, though.
