purpleSKY- it does exist!

November 6, 2007

So, over the weekend I stopped by the Hot Topic in my mall to look for some new band t-shirts. Sadly, I haven’t found a good one there in years but I did find purpleSKY! I haven’t gotten around to reading many articles but it’s pretty cool so far. There’s a lot of visual kei coverage but I assume that was because they interviewed just about everyone from the Jrock Revolution festival. The album reviews are nice even though the Beat Crusaders review for EPopMaking was terrible. The Bleach 03 feature has also got me interested in learning more about the band.

Recently, they released pre-order details on myspace for their Fall 2007 issue. On the cover is the band The Captains whose “best of” album Last Group Sounds in now available to purchase from Tokyo no Records. I received the album last month and was pleasantly surprised by it. Highly recommended. More details about this issue’s content is available on their myspace.

Beat Crusaders on love hotels

July 16, 2007

The Beat Crusaders talk with IMF host again on a new topic, love hotels.  In the bustling streets of Shibuya there lies dozens of love hotels whose guests can stay for an hourly “rest” (used mostly for sex) or a “stay.”  If you have the time IMF has a bunch of little Tokyo clips on their youtube account that are informative and hilarious at the same time.

IMF channel (International Music Feed)

June 30, 2007

I just bumped into their account while searching for Beat Crusaders videos on youtube. IMF is a 24 hour music video network which combines the best music in the US and around the world. It’s supposed to be available on Dish Network (channel 157), Verizon Fios, AT&T U-Verse, Sure West Broadband & Wide Open West. I have dish network but apparently it’s not part of my subscription. In any case I think it’s a great idea. They’ve uploaded a bunch of interviews from the channel on their youtube account. Here’s the Japanese videos they have so far:

Check out two acoustic Beat Crusaders videos for “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight” and “Fairy Tale.” Both songs are off their latest album EPopMaking.  Looks like Toru is a Bad Religion fan :O

Nice Day!

Ryukyudisko’s new PV for Nice Day with the Beat Crusaders in on youtube.  It’s not as dancy as I thought it would be but there’s still a lot of electronic noises.

BEAT CRUSADERS- CUM ON FEEL THE NOIZE

May 6, 2007

Thanks to the wonders of the internet the latest Beat Crusaders video has been spread across the ocean to my lovely headphones.  “Cum On Feel the Noize” is off their latest album EPopMaking which is coming out the tail end of the month.  This is a cover of the famous song by hair metal band Slade which has been covered numerous times in the past by the likes of Oasis for example.

BEAT CRUSADERS- EPopMAKING

April 7, 2007

CDJapan reports that the new Beat Crusaders album, EPopMAKING – Pop tono Sogu will come out May 30th. It includes their advanced singles from “Booootsy,” “Cell No. 9,” “Night on the Planet,” and more.” To my knowledge those songs would be “Nothing to Loose,” “Freedom,” and “Overkill” respectively. I’d imagine the singles for “Day After Day,” “Solitaire,” “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight,” and “Ghost” will be on there as well. They also have a single coming out with DJ, RYUKYUDISKO, out June 13th called “Nice Day.”

BEAT CRUSADERS- GHOST

March 24, 2007

In this video, a young Asian girl passes out and dies when she sees her favorite band, the Beat Crusaders, tombstone (ironically using the same tomb-font as Good Charlotte’s logo oh oh oh).  As she slowly becomes translucent and passes on she sees her favorite band performing the graveyard shift.  The rest of the video cuts to scenes of her lifeless body while the Beat Crusaders jam out like only ghosts can.  So far this is probably my favorite single they’ve released since their last album, Pop On Arrival.  The single for “Ghost” comes out April 18th.

the cool brag #1

March 11, 2007

My CD package from Interpunk.com came in a day earlier than I expected.  Here’s a monument to the great Japanese music that is available domestically to American listeners.  I would’ve taken a picture of my grinning face but I don’t know how to work my sister’s digicam.  I’ll just let the guys in ELLEGARDEN do it for me.
