Make sure you download “Everybody’s Here,” the new track by Electrico. “A song written for youths or anybody who feels lost, desolated, low in self-esteem, in despair, all the negative things we face. It’s a song about hope and opening up to people who can help. You are not alone!!”
Epic news of the day. The guys from Thursday and Envy have announced an upcoming split LP+CD. Temporary Residence Ltd., US record label of Envy, will distribute. They plan a small scale run, mostly at independent record stores and online. These are two of my favorite hardcore bands of all time. I would love to see more cross-continent split albums like this in the future. Temporary Residence Ltd. will also release Envy’s first DVD Transfovista next Tuesday, April 8th.
I would just like to point out that my blog has been linked to a Nick Carterfansite. How hardcore is that? This past weekend I became addicted to the manga Detroit Metal City. Much like the [adult swim] hit Metalocoplyse, DMC is a parody on the death metal scene. Our hero Negishi/Krauser the 2nd is a Swedish-pop loving fool by day and a heavy metal god by night. Negishi hates metal but still churns out the best songs on rape and murder in the country. His biggest fear is that his mom finds out what kind of band he’s in. You can read the scans here or download them from these guys. Last Friday a tribute album for the series including songs by Beat Crusaders, Wagdug Futuristic Unity, and Tommy february6 came out. I’m desperately searching for it. Please send.
Good Friday. The Friday before Easter. The day Jesus died on the cross. As I was raised Catholic, I celebrate this day every year. One song that always gets me in the mood is Mono’s “The Flames Beyond the Cold Mountain.” Whether it be the haunting intro that sounds exactly like the music played on Good Friday services or the utter breakdown at the end, its hard not to classify this song as a spiritual journey. Close your eyes and be transported to another world.
The last day of Spring break I realize that I haven’t accomplished much. It’s ok though I didn’t expect that I would. This morning I noticed that I haven’t added any new songs to the box player since last November. I decided to upload two songs with a theme, chick singers. I’ve posted about midori before, you’ll either love them or hate them. Very loud screaming vocals over jazz piano. Mass of the Fermenting Dregs is a little calmer, shoegaze band similar to Luminous Orange.
Parms is the new project from Satoshi, vocalist of DRUM:KAN. Four demos have been added to their myspace. I’m liking what I’m hearing so far although it doesn’t sound that much different from his previous band. DRUM:KAN broke up last September.
Asian Kung-Fu Generation’s new album World World World is a keeper. It contains the two singles, “After Dark” from Bleach and “Aru Machi No Gunjo”from Tekkon Kinkreet. The single for “Korogaru Iwa, Kimi ni Asa ga Furu” was released last month and surprisingly hasn’t been picked up for an anime theme…yet. My favorite track on the album however is “Night Diving” which includes duel vocals with Goto and guitarist Kita. I’ve been gay for Kita’s vocals since “Uso no Wonderland,” hopefully he’ll get to sing some more tracks in the future.

Aru Machi No Gunjo
(enjoy the videos before youtube deletes them again…assholes.)
It’s been a while since I recommended a band. Wagdug Futuristic Unity is the new project from Hiroshi Kyono of Mad Capsule Markets. It’s a genre which I like to call “digital hardcore,” screaming with electronic elements in the background. His first mini-albumNU ЯIOT came out last October and contained many guest appearances such as DJ Starscream from Slipknot. Here is the music video for “ILL MACHINE (x ULTRA BRAiN)” which also appears on the Appleseed: Ex Machina OST.
