J-Rock Fridays Vol. 108 End

This is it. After 4 years I’m letting J-Rock Fridays go. My warnings were not heeded and it’s time to move on. Starting next week I will start making individual video posts. Stick around, won’t you?

Arukara- 名探偵ミスタ相棒はジョニー

Arukara and their baskerville hound embark on a good old fashioned murder mystery. Do they catch the killer? I honestly have no idea but it’s cool watching them rock out in Sherlock Holmes attire.

tricot- “Oyasumi”

Hey, batter batter! Watch tricot’s lead vocalist strike out a hundred times while her bandmates cover the bases. This may take all night but keep at it, girl.

Frontier Backyard- “Picture of the Sun”

Say goodbye to cloudy days and drive on up the coast for some picture perfect scenery in Frontier’s backyard.

A new J-Rock Firdays for this rainy day.

oono yuuki- “Lotus”

On his first album, oono yuuki got tired of singing folk music and invited his friends over for a jam session. The resulting tracks were far and away the highlights of that album. He does the same on the first single off Tempestas, recruiting 8 of the brightest minds in Japan for this epic collaboration. If Yuuki would drop the solo act and form a real band with these guys they’d be a major force in the indie scene.

Random J-Rock Updates #7

Annnnnnnnnnnd. I thought I would do another one of these things while I had the chance. If you have news you want me to post send it to me!

–shing02 supports Barack Obama.

–Dir en grey’s video for “Dozing Green” premiered on Headbangers Ball.

–Winnie’s new mini-album Headquarter will come out January 14.

-You can download the lyric booklet for girugamesh’s MUSIC over at JapanFiles, for free.

–Vuzz Vegas Queen has their demo album up on myspace to stream.

–The Slants have a new remix of “Love Within My Sins” on myspace. It is from their new album Slants Slants Revolution, a remix album by DJ Ninja Gaijin and Justin Coope.

–8otto also has some new remixes up on myspace.

–This Month in J-Rock: October should be done by next Friday. Sorry!

–Peelander-Z participated in a cool art jam. They also have a 7″ with Loafass coming out soon.

Random J-Rock Updates #4

September 7, 2008

Just wrapped up my second week of the new semester. Not bad so far, even though I’m taking 18 credit hours. I also just turned in my graduation dues, $125 down the drain! Sigh…I’ve been forced to take 2 night classes this semester which means 2 nights off work a week. My wallet’s just about empty. It doesn’t help that the Christian bookstore by my house is going out of business and that they have such great deals on my Tooth and Nail bands! I bought 8 CDs today alone, for about $20. Might take me a while to get to the new Japanese music now…

–parms (ex-DRUMKAN) will be recording their debut album in Louisville, KY with Kevin Ratterman this month.

-Sawao Yamanaka from the pillows is in a new band named The Predators with members from GLAY and straightener.

–MUCC will be headlining 2 shows in LA and New York.

–girugamesh’s self-titled album will be availabe at Hot Topic by the end of the month. Their discography is also on JapanFiles.

–TsuShiMaMiRe have a new song up on myspace named “Hyper Sweet Power” that has some connection with the Powerpuff Girls. They are currently on a US tour.

–buddhistson have uploaded studio updates.
