Looks like it’s time for another Halloween edition of J-Rock Fridays. This time I’m only posting bands that wear masks. I didn’t receive any suggestions last week (guess it’s time to finally shelve J-Rock Fridays) so it’s a bit shorter than I hoped.
Man With A Mission- “Don’t Lose Yourself”
Who let the dogs out?! Er…werewolves. Whatever they are they rock.
Another posted-after-work edition of J-Rock Fridays. I’m sorry I spent my afternoon at the new Salvation Army by my house. Is anyone else creeped out by the black men in red suits? They were ALL OVER THE PLACE. Except they couldn’t be nicer. They literally ran to open the door for me and my mom. Hm. Looks like the next J-Rock Fridays column falls just in time for Halloween Super Fun Time. Post your favorite “masked” bands/videos in the comments and I will probably add them. I promise not to post too many Beat Crusaders videos!
Good Morning America- 空ばかり見ていた
Ohohohohooh your “ohohohohoohs” sound so good. But if you’re going to name yourselves after a popular western catchphrase I recommend not spelling your name out in Japanese, thanks!
So Hokkaido Fair wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be. They basically had a few food stands right when you’re walk in the door. There were samples of squishy fish I could never identify and some octopus. I wound up having Bi Bim Bap and a Taro Latte in the food court. I don’t know why I’m writing about this here and not my food blog. But anyway it’s Mitsuwa so it’s always an adventure. I wound up buying Perfume’s new single in the bookstore and a copy of Rockin’ On Japan with Beat Crusaders on the cover!
Ivory7 Chord- “Fire Works”
Where we sober when we first met? All I know is I saw fireworks.
Isobe Masafumi, formerly of Husking Bee and Mars Eurythmics, has decided to go solo and got Toru Hidaka of Beat Crusaders to tag along and produce his first single. It’s a fun pop song with plenty of screeching synths. The single release, which has a very Beat Crusaders-esque cover, also features peeps from Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Asparagus, and Cubismo Grafico Five.
Finally a band that could combine the raw energy of Death From Above and the electronic prowess of Daft Punk. Loud and beautiful. Watch out Boom Boom Satellites.
